The Intranet is Moving!

We have exciting news. Our Intranet, the Inner Circle, will be moving to SharePoint in 2026.

By hosting our internal site on SharePoint:

  • Information will be easier to manage and access, with less duplication.
  • Each division will have full control of their content.
  • The intranet will be our new homepage on our Microsoft Edge browser making mobile use from a corporate device easy and responsive.
  • We can use integrated Microsoft widgets to provide better communication and organization tools for our teams. For example: corporate newsfeeds, calendars, contact directory, etc.

This migration presents a unique opportunity to name the Intranet! Instead of keeping the name as the ‘Inner Circle’ as well, we are opening an Intranet naming contest to all Town staff. Here is how it works:

  1. Submit a (or multiple!) name idea.
  2. Vote for your favourite name submission.
  3. The name with the most votes at 4:30 p.m. on January 16, 2026 wins!

Some general rules and reminders:

  • No profanity.
  • Your name will be attached to the ideas you submit.
  • We welcome fun names!
  • SLT reserves the right to provide final approval of the name.

Need some inspiration? The Town of Orillia held a snowplow naming contest. A few fan favourites included Plowasaurus Rex and The Snowmanator, with the winning name being Catch My Drift.
